When you are at home all day, it can be easy to get distracted too! That book you wanted to read is calling your name, one more episode on Netflix can’t hurt, scrolling through social media will only take a minute….but before you know it, the whole day has passed by and you got no work done! This is something I hear from people all the time! Or, they spend time doing things they think is work, but it’s really not! One of my best tips is to sit down one day every week, and plan out when you are doing to work, what you need to get done, and how many hours you are going to work. Put activities at the top that make you income! Next follow it by items that could make you income. End it with activities that don’t bring in income. This way, you always get done the things that will bring you money! For me, I love to blog but that doesn’t bring me much income, so it’s always the last item on my list. Sure it might be fun, but If I want to work from home, I have to make an income so that means income producing activities first!

However you decide to price your classes, remember that the buyer will want to feel like they’re getting a lot for their money. If you can provide that in a fun atmosphere, they’ll likely be back time and time again – and they’ll bring friends.

When I saw the title “5 Harsh Realities of Making a Living Online” in my Google Reader I was very happy. I agree with you, not enough people talk about the fact that it’s NOT EASY. It takes a tremendous amount of time, effort and energy – and even then you are not guaranteed the results you want. It’s basically just as risky and time consuming as building a business in the “Real” world (i.e. not online.) For some reason, people think that being “online” makes it easier – but it doesn’t.

Places like Guru, Elance, Freelancer, and oDesk are today’s writers’ best friends. They allow individuals and businesses to post projects, and freelancers to bid on them. Take a look around the sites, sign up for the free access in the beginning, and then begin to place bids on the projects that interest you. It will take some trial and error to find your groove, but once you do, the jobs will start to roll in.
As is often the case with historical stigmas, that’s a huge bag of wrong. Stanford University economics professor Nicholas Bloom spearheaded a 2013 study of the Chinese travel website Ctrip, which offered its call-center staff the opportunity to work from home for nine months. Of the volunteers, half were able to telecommute, while the other half served as a control group back in the office. I’ve made it my life’s goal to get better at re-using scripts, re-using pages, and to develop other more repeatable processes. That’s one of the biggest challenges I have today.
