To avoid any confusion, I want to make it clear first that virtual assistant work is not always non-phone, but it can be. Virtual assistants tend to do a little bit of everything, just depending on their skills/expertise. So if you are good at various non-phone tasks (social media marketing/moderation, writing, graphic design, research etc.), then you may be able to do work for some of the companies below putting those non-phone skills to work.

In an era of aging baby boomers and changing healthcare laws, medical coding and billing jobs offer relatively stable ways to make money from home. Need more ideas on how to make money online? Another strategy is using webinars to market your product, service, or course. I’ve done webinars to promote my financial planning practice and to drum up interest in my online course for financial advisors. With a webinar, you’re basically offering a lot of tips and advice for free — usually in a live format. Having access to an up-to-date computer and a good Internet connection is essential, virtually without exception, to make money from home. You’ll also need a dedicated workspace and a good degree of discipline to stick to a schedule the works for you.

Preferably, you need natural light and a door, so that you can separate your work from your home life when the workday is done. (Moreover, creating a separate and exclusive space can be necessary if you want to take a tax deduction for a home office.)

People want to order from someone who has great feedback and has a store. Customers know you take this seriously and you have a reputation to protect. This means that if anything goes wrong, you'll stand by them. They feel more protected and safe, so you can literally CHARGE MORE than your competitors, up to 20% more, depending on what you're selling. If you have 100% positive feedback with over 50 feedbacks and a store, I'd say go for 20%. You'll get the sales over others who don't have a store or 100% positive feedback.

It's starts out that you receive a check in the mail from the company you're supposedly doing services for, and "working for."
Great post and all, but is it possible to make money from a blog without teaching people how to blog? Seems like most of the money making blogs out there make money from affiliates for starting a to blog! Making Sense of Cents is one that comes to mind. She’s a huge pusher for Blue Host, which she doesn’t even use. A huge portion of her income, if not all, is based on teaching people how to blog.
I have been a member on Inbox Dollars for over 2 years. It is legit and they do pay. Once you reach their payment limit ($30) you can request payment and they will send you a check, usually takes about 2-3 weeks because they cut the checks on certain days of the month. The bottom line: Remote work is not an excuse to get up late, work in your pajamas and enjoy freedom from responsibility. It is, however, a viable career option that permits you to avoid cubicle life and long commutes, options when arranging your work schedule, and the comforts of your own home/office/favorite cafe. As long as the pay is enough for your needs, remote work can be a pleasant, productive and rewarding career.

Online tutoring, however, can be done through companies that connect tutors with students while providing the needed infrastructure (i.e. web conferencing services) for a cut of the fees. Most require a college degree and teaching experience but for some those requirements may be negotiable.
Jobs that let you work from home, an arrangement known as telecommuting, are all the rage these days. According to a 2017 Gallup survey of more than 15,000 working adults, 43% of respondents said they spent at least some time in 2016 working remotely—four percentage points higher than in 2012. When I mention that I’ve worked from home for almost two years, I’m often met with envy. That’s quickly followed, however, with a line along the lines of, “I don’t know how you do that; I would never get anything done.” I fully understand both of those reactions. Although many medical transcriptionists work for hospitals or physician’s offices, most are able to work at home, and at a time or place of their choosing. Since their tasks involve transcribing recorded medical dictation, a computer, desk, and earpiece are generally the only requirements after completing a postsecondary medical transcriptionist program.
If you find yourself working earlier, take time for yourself and your family later. (Personally, I have ghostwriting clients all over the world, and it's a lot easier to do the occasional 4 a.m. overseas Skype call from my home office.)
