By the way, a lack of contact information on a "make-money-from-home" site is a red flag. When there's no clear way to contact whomever is running the site, that is usually a pretty good indicator you're dealing with a scammer. Even if there is contact info, don't assume everything is okay. Check it out. If an address is listed, look it up on Mapquest or Google Maps. See if it really exists. If there's a phone number, call and find out who answers.


Having a planner can help a ton with scheduling yourself. Here are two of my favorites, Bloom Planner and Academic Planner. I like planners because I can sit down and write what I need to do, plus it allows me to keep everything in one area! I use to keep my kids stuff on one calendar and my work stuff on another….but that was just way too confusing for me! One spot makes it much easier! If you noticed, I use cheap planners because all I need is a space to write, and none of the fancy other items. Plus I want a small one so I can fit it in my purse when I go to appointments.

I had a lady the other day who ordered something twice, I contacted her to ask her if she meant to do that, she said no. I said okay, I canceled the transaction. She said nevermind, I'll just buy two. I shipped out two, then now she's saying she only received one even though USPS says it was delivered. Always get tracking by the way. 🙂 Sometimes you'll just have those customers who have nothing better to do than make trouble and drama for everyone else. It's part of the job. You HAVE to be polite. Just know that you are protected in cases like that, and it's just a matter of time before eBay makes a decision in your favor, but if you're rude and mean, customers CAN slap you with a harassment case. If you're found guilty, you can be kicked off. Even the little snarky remarks are considered harassment, so always practice fantastic customer service skills.

It is so true that, like you, I think that one of the biggest reasons that anyone fail working from home is that they lack the discipline to allot the proper amount of time to getting the job done, whatever the job is. Unless those hours have been set for you by some outside entity, its a real push to give the time that it takes to be successful working from home. The distractions get in the way. Take care.

Working at home can make you feel cut off from your co-workers. You are on your own. It is important to stay connected through your computer and telephone. Always be willing to send instant messages through Skype or whichever software your company uses. Stay available and do not ignore your co-workers when they message or email you, this goes both ways.


I have been really disappointed with the survey gig. They underestimate the time they take to complete by like a third and often I find myself spending 10 minutes in what seems like a survey only to find out it’s a pre-survey qualifier, where it feels like I’m giving them so much personal information that I ought to be paid, but at the end of it I’m told I don’t qualify but the award like the equivalent of a penny or two to thank you for your time.

Limit your distractions from outside sources. Try not to answer phone calls that aren't work related. Train your dog not to interrupt or don't allow him in the room during work hours. (This is especially important if you make and take business calls; a dog barking in the background is unprofessional and distracting.) Do not turn on the TV and don't surf the web unless that is part of your job description.

A work from home job can be any position that does not require you to be in an office. There a wide range of work from home jobs. Some companies offer opportunities for employees in traditional roles to work remotely for all or some of their workweek. These jobs often use technology for meetings, assignments, and collaboration. This practice is called telecommuting. Other work from home opportunities may include jobs such as customer service representatives for which companies will hire remote workers, or part-time virtual assistants to manage work which does not require a physical presence in the office.
Although working from home is not usually connected with the medical field, a surprising number of medical jobs can be performed from home. Such occupations include medical transcription, medical coding, and virtual nursing. Even some pharmacists work from home reviewing prescriptions, overseeing transfers from one pharmacy to another, and providing counseling on use of medications. Many of these jobs require some form of certification, training, schooling, and/or previous experience. 
To counteract your social networks' ease of use during work hours, remove them from your browser shortcuts and, according to Fast Company, log out of every account. You might even consider working primarily in a private or, if you're using Chrome, an "Incognito" browser window. This ensures you stay signed out of all your accounts and each web search you conduct doesn't autocomplete the word you're typing. It's a guarantee that you won't be tempted into taking too many social breaks during the day.

Successfully working from home can be an incredibly rewarding, amazing, and productive experience. Doing so just takes a little surveying of your situation and figuring out the best way to make it work. And I can say this with infinite certainty—after finding my groove and seeing how wonderful it can truly be, I don’t see myself ever setting foot in a cubicle again if I can help it.

I read about blogging. I read A LOT about blogging. I read about how there are millions of blogs out there, and about how it can take years to grow a blog into a money making business. I read about how many blogs fail. I remembered that once, a few years ago, I’d had a brief interest in blogging (when I’d read about a woman who made Pinterest her full time job).
Great article. When I decided to go into online marketing I went into it with open eyes. I had great expectations and dollar signs in my eyes. I was going to be a millionaire in two years. Then reality set in. But I love this business and I’ll keep plugging away.
