Do not give in to procrastination. That’s the enemy of freedom workers! Some experts say start with simple to accomplish tasks because it gives you easy wins, thus adding up to your momentum. But make sure a bigger part of your work schedule should be allocated to the most important task. Important can be your own definition: what’s most urgent, what’s most challenging; and for some – what is most income-generating. Define what is important to you based on your work goals. Then identify the task that needs your most attention. Get it done first.

We’ve all heard countless pieces of advice on how to make a good impression during a job interview. When you take breaks during the day take walks or do physical activity. If you worked in a physical office you would take breaks with co-workers and chat at the water cooler, when you are working at home you should do the same. You can also invest your additional time saved by not commuting into your health. Working at home is a modern convenience. If you approach it with the right attitude it can enhance your career and improve all areas of your life.
Before you really roll up your sleeves and monetize your personal or professional skills, why not right-size your life? Selling your unwanted stuff is a great way to downsize and declutter your life while earning some income on the side. If you’re transitioning to full-time work-at-home status, that income could provide a critical boost to your plans for a proper home office, or allow you to maintain your lifestyle during lean times without resorting to voluntary simplicity.
I have been really disappointed with the survey gig. They underestimate the time they take to complete by like a third and often I find myself spending 10 minutes in what seems like a survey only to find out it’s a pre-survey qualifier, where it feels like I’m giving them so much personal information that I ought to be paid, but at the end of it I’m told I don’t qualify but the award like the equivalent of a penny or two to thank you for your time.
Another flexible non-phone option in the educational field is test scoring. There are a few reputable companies that do hire home-based workers to score everything from standardized tests to essays. It’s often the people who want to make money online that approach it from a position of strength that ultimately succeed, trying to start a business out of a position of weakness and desperation is where I think a lot of people fail unfortunately.


If you have a home office, tell them directly, “Hey, when this door is closed, I’m totally unavailable, pretend I’m not here.” Or, if you don’t have a home office, try finding a quiet coworking space or cafe to go to so they’re not tempted to distract you by barging in and asking you where the paper towels are (they’re in the cabinet under the sink for the third freaking time!).

At the same time, it's great to do errands during low-demand hours. Don't fight the crowds at the mall on a Saturday. Instead, discover the tranquility of 10:30 a.m. on a Tuesday.

One of the cool things about Google AdSense is that it's so easy to get set up. If you have a blog or website, you can sign up for a free Google AdSense Account. From there, Google will give you a unique code that you will paste onto your website. Google takes it from there, tracking your page views, traffic, and earnings on your behalf. There is no upkeep or maintenance to get this thing going, which makes it a no-brainer if you have a website already.

After quitting a 9 to 5 job you might be tempted to think that working whenever you have the time is a decent approach. It is far from it, though – give it time and you’ll see for yourself. Working haphazardly will only make you a lot of your valuable time you could actually use for doing something else. This is why you should establish a clear schedule. Of course, there are exceptions – in those cases, you may attempt to change your business hours, but try to have some guidelines in this respect.

Set aside a specific area or room of your home as your office. When you move into that space, this becomes a subconscious signal that it is time to work. The same applies once you've finished for the day. Move out of that space, or clear away your work material if the space serves another purpose. Your brain is better able to"turn on" or "turn off" the work day when your work space is distinct.
