No matter what your item is — you can sell it on eBay! To get started, snap a few pictures of your item, write a great description, and post it on the site. Once your item sells, print out the shipping label from eBay, and send it on its way. eBay sellers are allowed 50 free listings per month and eBay only takes a small fee once the item sells. Payments are made quickly via PayPal once the buyer's payment method goes through.
Note:  There are dozens of other survey sites out there. These just happen to be the more well-known ones that have a reputation for paying out in a timely manner and not having impossible standards for cashing out. As always, be careful with your personal information. I recommend using an entirely separate email address for survey sites so they don’t clutter your inbox.
There are two avenues for this one: Consult on your own or with a company. Consultants who are also selling a product need to beware of scams. Trust vetted sites like ZipRecruiter for cosmetics and makeup opportunities. The same resource can be used for tech consultants or business consultants looking for a way to start their work-from-home career.

Although working from home is not usually connected with the medical field, a surprising number of medical jobs can be performed from home. Such occupations include medical transcription, medical coding, and virtual nursing. Even some pharmacists work from home reviewing prescriptions, overseeing transfers from one pharmacy to another, and providing counseling on use of medications. Many of these jobs require some form of certification, training, schooling, and/or previous experience.
Many direct sales businesses are built on a model known as multi-level (sometimes called "network" or "matrix") marketing. The business owner (i.e. the home-based businessperson) earns money from direct sales to customers, as well as claiming a percentage of the revenue earned by "downline" sellers that the owner has recruited to become part of the company's sales force. While there is nothing inherently wrong with this model, there are a couple of common pitfalls with these types of businesses. Consider the following two examples.
Abby made over $110,000 from sales of digital products (such as eBooks) in 2015, and even more than that in 2016. She started three years ago knowing nothing about blogging and now makes six figures a year, due in large part to her eBooks. She is now teaching others the process she uses to write and launch profitable eBooks, and you guys, it is genius!
But these are just a small fraction of the many real remote jobs out there. To learn how to find even more at-home employment positions check out my ebook The Ultimate Guide to Finding a Full-Time Remote Job With Benefits. This 74-page mega guide will give you the direction needed to finally kick your cubicle to the curb. The best part? You can pay what you want for it! So, go ahead and get your copy today.
Although many medical transcriptionists work for hospitals or physician’s offices, most are able to work at home, and at a time or place of their choosing. Since their tasks involve transcribing recorded medical dictation, a computer, desk, and earpiece are generally the only requirements after completing a postsecondary medical transcriptionist program.
Does remote work pay well? Industry reports show that remote workers earn about 15 to 30 percent less than in-office workers on average. This is partially offset by avoiding a commute – gas and vehicle maintenance – as well as by incidentals like occasional meals out. However, there is no denying that companies tend to treat remote workers as less-than-regular workers, especially because there is still throughout the civilian world an old guard of managers/supervisors who judge workers by the appearance of diligence (i.e. how much time they sit in their chair at work) rather than by results.

During the week, music is the soundtrack to your career (cheesy, but admit it, it's true). And at work, the best playlists are diverse playlists -- you can listen to music that matches the energy of the project you're working on. Video game soundtracks are excellent at this. In the game itself, this lyric-free music is designed to help you focus; it only makes sense that it would help you focus on your work as well.

A chaotic working schedule will eventually be discernible in your work. This is why you should strive to be as organized as you would if you would be working in an office. You might consider segmenting your day into specific parts, allocating the tasks you intend to complete within given hours. As you complete what you’ve set your mind to complete, you’ll have an endless sense of gratification and self-satisfaction. And this can be quite motivating – even when you’re working from home.
Businesses are in need of someone to design their logo, website, or visual ads. If you have a degree or certification in this area, you can make a comfortable salary or $45,000 annually. This is starting, the better you get, the more clients will refer other clients over to you. Here is a killer guide I put together on how to build a website that should help you get started.
You can find more information on how to make a living on eBay as well as other sources of how to make a living from home on my blog. I have been fortunate to be able to be a single stay-at-home-mom, and I wish all the best to you as well in your endeavor to work from home. In our economy and the way things are going, this will become more and more possible as the years go on. There are so many things you can do to work from home and earn legitimate money to help your family. eBay is but one way.
Tutoring can be done in-home or online. The in-home tutoring will take networking and teaching experience to build your business. Online tutoring, however, can be done through companies that connect tutors with students while providing the needed infrastructure (i.e. web conferencing services) for a cut of the fees. Most require a college degree and teaching experience but for some those requirements may be negotiable.
“Working from home provides you great opportunities to connect with some of your core values, like family and community, while still providing quality service to your company,” says Shawn Mason Spence, an entrepreneur mentor, author, and life coach. “It requires discipline, focus and commitment, but the flexibility to define that yourself. You can create a work culture at home that represents you, not just the culture of your organization.”
“It is often a challenge in the beginning because of the sudden lack of buzz that typifies a traditional office environment,” says Lynn Taylor, a national workplace expert and author of Tame Your Terrible Office Tyrant. But once you’re on the phone, engaged in your business, attending meetings, using videoconferencing and making a proactive effort to create your own business community, that isolation is typically overcome, she says.
Of course, many people who enter direct-sales businesses aren't really looking to earn a full-time living. They simply want to generate a certain level of supplemental income. If that's your goal, and you're able to build up a small but loyal clientele, a direct-sales business could be just the thing to add several hundred dollars to your income every year (and allow you to get personal discounts on products to boot).
Drawing on the experiences of many home-based workers, this book helps solve the problems of self-discipline, financial insecurity, isolation, and interruptions. It also offers valuable advice on dealing with the vulnerabilities that inevitably come with self-employment-creating a professional image, maintaining a positive attitude, nurturing the capacity to persist against obstacles, and developing the flexibility to deal with a variety of clients or customers.
When it comes to at-home income, selling your unwanted stuff is the definition of “low-hanging fruit.” Even if you’re resolutely intentional in your purchasing habits, you surely have possessions that you can do without: old kids’ clothing and toys, disused sporting goods, out-of-fashion wardrobe accessories, electronics, entertainment, valuable but non-sentimental keepsakes such as watches and jewelry, broken-in furniture, dusty tools and outdoor equipment, and perhaps even big-ticket items like a motorcycle or second car.
Your “Rent a friend” sounds alot like the “escort services” that destroyed my marriage of 25 years. After all its much more fun to “rent” 25 year old women to spend time with than stay at home and take care of the 5 children you helped to create. So glad to see you recommending prostitution as a legitimate source of income. Oh, I know……this is not prostitution, its an opportunity for adults to meet new people and have new experiences.

In efforts to reduce costs, many companies across many industries hire employees and contractors to work from home. Between 2005 and 2012, the commonality of telecommuting increased dramatically. According to a publication by Global Workforce Analytics, for-profit companies saw an increase of over 70 percent, and not-for-profit saw an increase of over 87 percent in the incidence of telecommuting during that seven-year time frame. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, when people heard about telecommuting jobs, they would often associate them with either mail-stuffing jobs in which the pay was minuscule or in some cases, with scams.
Insurance is an industry that hires a lot of telecommuters, and the work-from-home jobs available are quite a diverse lot, ranging from underwriters and appraisers to case managers and insurance agents, as well as positions in IT and project management. While many insurance companies hire these positions directly as work-at-home jobs, others may offer flexible options for existing employees or part-time telecommuting.

The "honest" fine print addresses that, too. "After 14 days, you will be charged a monthly fee of $47.50 for … membership. After the 30-day trial [you] will be charged $99 for the program … You may stop payment on any pre-authorized charge by notifying [us] at least three business days prior to the scheduled charge date." Unfortunately, there is no clear contact information listed on the site, so finding a person to contact about stopping your monthly payment of $47.50 (and your $99 fee) may be a bit difficult.

But full-time jobs don’t suit everyone. Ms. Gassman, for example, has been offered a full-time job at SoulCycle, complete with full benefits, but she doesn’t want it. “I wouldn’t be able to go on auditions in the middle of the day,” she explained. “Of course, it stresses me out not to have health insurance, but what is my choice? Work in an office and be unhappy? Being happy is a superhigh value to me.”
What It Is: Students in countries including Japan, Korea, France and Germany are looking for English speakers to practice with. Sessions focus on things like making professional small talk or running a meeting (trainers are provided with specifics on how to teach each topic, and are also trained themselves for two days before starting the job). Lessons take place either over the phone or on a live Internet video service like Skype — sometimes at night, because you're working with students in different time zones. You need to commit to a minimum of 20 hours a week at consistent times, and can work as many as 35 hours.
It’s no secret: getting out of bed to go to work in the morning is hard. Traffic jams, metro delays, and the daily grind of an office routine can all seriously detract from our excitement to show up at the job every day. But what if you didn’t have to show up at the job every day? What if you didn’t even have to get out of bed in the morning in order to be a productive contributor to your company?
You've heard this one before, but it's crucial. Carve out a dedicated space that you only use for work. Preferably, you need natural light and a door, so that you can separate your work from your home life when the workday is done. (Moreover, creating a separate and exclusive space can be necessary if you want to take a tax deduction for a home office.)
You’ll almost certainly need at least an undergraduate degree to qualify for many online teaching jobs for K-12 online schools, universities, and other virtual education organizations. Often, employers prefer some experience in teaching students online. For jobs at the college level or higher, a post-graduate degree is a common requirement, along with professional experience in the pertinent subject area. Requirements can vary for tutors; for example English as a Second Language or ESL certification may be required to teach English to people who speak other languages, though you may not need to be bilingual.
Styling companies are springing up across the country and need fashion stylists to work with their clients. It’s like playing dress-up, but with a paycheck. Fashion stylists usually get their start working retail or costume design, but a love of fashion is the main requirement. With personal shopping sites like Stitchfix or Nordstrom’s Trunk Club, it’s possible to be a stylist right in your living room.
As a home-based employee you don’t have the luxury of co-workers sitting right next to you–so you’ll often have to figure out issues for yourself. If you’re the type of person who prefers a lot of guidance or is easily distracted, working at home may not be an ideal situation for you, Hanna adds. “And even if you are motivated and can stay on task in a home office, if you’re a social butterfly that requires a lot of social stimulation, working at home may cause you to go stir crazy or it make even make you socially depressed.” By knowing your personality and skill sets, you can determine if working at home is the right choice for you.

Of course, the biggest space invaders live inside your home. Your children, provided they're old enough to understand, need to learn to respect your work time. Parlapiano recalls putting a sign on her door with "Mommy is working now so don't come in" on one side and "Okay to come in" on the other. She also allowed her children to bring the mail to her office, and she made it a point to take a midday break to have lunch with them. Keep in mind, particularly if you have in-home child care, that it may be easier on your child and your caregiver if you keep your days relatively predictable. It's important for your spouse to recognize your boundaries as well. If you're serious about starting a business at home, your days can't be dedicated to laundry and running household errands. With your spouse's help, work out a plan for dividing household chores and spending quality time together.

Job Boards. When you’re first starting out, you’ll have to go looking for work, and the best place to do that is on one of the online job boards. Places like Guru, Elance, Freelancer, and oDesk are today’s writers’ best friends. They allow individuals and businesses to post projects, and freelancers to bid on them. Take a look around the sites, sign up for the free access in the beginning, and then begin to place bids on the projects that interest you. It will take some trial and error to find your groove, but once you do, the jobs will start to roll in.
Do you enjoy searching the web? Would you like to help Google determine if search queries are relevant and high-quality? Then consider becoming a search engine evaluator, a social media evaluator (the same type of position but instead, performing searches via social media platforms) or a mobile search reviewer. Positions are flexible and part-time, must have excellent communication skills, be tech-savvy, and have familiarity with social media.

Skill. If you’re going to sew for other people, your skills need to be far above average. If you’re a beginner or an average seamstress, wait until you improve their skills before attempting to earn money in this type of business. If people are going to trust their wedding dresses or their favorite sports jacket to you, you must be able to handle them with care and the utmost skill.

I’ve seen these from time to time posted on Craigslist, but I’ve never actually gotten one yet.  My advice to finding them is to scour the job postings on not only your local city, but some big cities like New York as well.  Often times there will be work from home jobs posted on only the NYC Craigslist because that’s where the company is based out of, that’s their local Craigslist, and they don’t want to go to the bother of posting it on all of the cities.   You’d apply for these jobs the same way you’d do any other job, and your interview will likely be over the phone, unless you happen to be near where the company is based.

After quitting a 9 to 5 job you might be tempted to think that working whenever you have the time is a decent approach. It is far from it, though – give it time and you’ll see for yourself. Working haphazardly will only make you a lot of your valuable time you could actually use for doing something else. This is why you should establish a clear schedule. Of course, there are exceptions – in those cases, you may attempt to change your business hours, but try to have some guidelines in this respect.

With Teespring, you create your t-shirts designs (or coffee mugs, sweatshirts, tote bags, phone cases, and more) on the platform, choose your colors, determine your price, and your product description, and publish your listing. Teespring will give you links to your storefront and individual products so you can promote online.
At that point, you're supposed to deposit the check into your bank account. You're told to spend part of that money shopping at specific stores, then to wire back the leftover cash. Which you do. And then you find out from your bank that the initial check was a fraud. When the check bounces, you're responsible for whatever real money you wired back. Even worse, if you don't have enough in your account, you're now on the hook to the bank.
A work from home job can be any position that does not require you to be in an office. There a wide range of work from home jobs. Some companies offer opportunities for employees in traditional roles to work remotely for all or some of their workweek. These jobs often use technology for meetings, assignments, and collaboration. This practice is called telecommuting. Other work from home opportunities may include jobs such as customer service representatives for which companies will hire remote workers, or part-time virtual assistants to manage work which does not require a physical presence in the office.

Advertising. You won’t have any quests until you get the word around about your room. Start locally by putting a sign in your front yard and spreading the word through friends and family. Next, build a small website and make sure that you attract the search engine spiders by using the keywords people would likely search for when looking for a place to stay in your area. In addition, there are sites that specialize in promoting specific areas and their attractions, such as BedandBreakfast.com and Airbnb – your Bed and Breakfast should be listed there.
Service. Another key aspect of successful B&Bs is the level of service that the hosts provide. You’re not just offering room and board, but an experience. If they need help planning a day seeing the sites, offer to sit down with them and help them plan their itinerary. If a businessperson needs copies for a presentation, offer to go and make them. Remember, your job as host will be to make your guests’ stays as comfortable and pleasurable as possible. If you succeed, they’ll remember you the next time they travel through your town.

In a traditional office, you have the eyes of your boss on you — or at least the perception of being checked up on. You probably still have a boss when you’re working from home, but the management of how you spend your work day is largely up to you. You’re the one who has to answer for your to-do list, even if your manager wasn’t around to see you tackle each item.

Welcome to my little spot on the Web!!! I’m a work from home mom of 3, personal trainer, sports nutritionist, wife, and animal lover. I’m originally from GA but currently reside in Northern VA. I love spending time with my kids, doing crafts, staying active, and being outside. I also am a big fan of reading and love all different books!! I started this site as I’m always getting questions about how I manage everything. My own business, 3 kids, weight loss after a baby….it’s not easy, but I hope to share a little bit here and there about how I multi task everything I do. My house is messy, but my kids are happy!!! Hope you enjoy!!!

Andy Willoughby's 3-Step Plan recruits its sales force by advertising heavily on Christian and conservative-talk radio (Willoughby's folksy ads always include the line, "How in the world are you anyway?"). Although the 3-Step Plan does market a product (Xango juice), the product is clearly secondary to the idea of "owning a business" and "earning additional income." In fact, Willoughby's radio ads don't even mention the product.
No commuting. Ian Aronovich is the president and co-founder of GovernmentAuctions.org, and says that he most appreciates the noticeable lack of travel time. “You never have to deal with the painful rush hour commute to and back from the company office. In addition, you can work at any time of the day or night whenever it’s most convenient for you.”
You’d do most of your work in a home garden, but you’ll have to spend your weekends away from home. If you love the idea of selling your home-grown produce, but can’t swing being out of the house on weekends, consider selling to friends, family, and neighbors instead. Almost everyone prefers the taste of a fresh picked tomato to a store bought one.
If you want to have a successful business on eBay, you need a store. There's no going around it. There are so many perks to having a store, one is that eBay promotes your store on search engines, so you're getting a lot more traffic than you will not having one. Another perk is that it automatically gives you credibility. Do you know how many cases are opened with eBay by fly-by-the-night scammers?

Work Space. When acting as a consultant, the probability is high that clients will be visiting your home office. Therefore, you need to have a neat, professional home office that is welcoming to guests. Try to locate your work space in a quiet, even secluded, area of the house. A converted garage space with its own entrance works well, giving you a private space for work and adding to your credibility.

Once you have decided on your hours of operation, post the times and stick to them. If you are a stay at home Mom or Dad, decide whether childcare arrangements are needed so your day can be devoted to work. If you have older children, be sure to explain to them your work hours. Granted, flexibility may be one of the reasons you are working from home or have established a home based business, but you must decide how many hours it takes to make the business a success or you are sure not to keep those hours and your business could fast become a hobby. Remember to build in frequent breaks in your day. Also important - schedule vacations. Working from home does not mean no vacation.
