User-friendly App: Decluttr is a mobile-ready platform made for selling on the go. The mobile app is a great help when you’re hunched over miscellaneous boxes in your dank basement or sweltering attic. You can use the app to scan in your items directly and utilize Decluttr’s “valuation engine” to quickly and easily see exactly how much you can earn. Many popular online selling platforms, including eBay and Amazon, are designed first and foremost with desktop and laptop users in mind.
I really like point #1. So many people I talk to are excited about their idea because nobody is doing it or else they don’t want to do something because someone already is. I’m a believer that no competition is a worse sign than a lot of competition. If you were mining for gold back in the day, would you rather be near San Francisco where everyone was finding gold, or would you rather be in New Mexico with no competition (assuming nobody found gold in New Mexico)? The analogy is a little weak, but it gets the point across. Thanks for the great post, and keep up the legendary work.
“Working from home provides you great opportunities to connect with some of your core values, like family and community, while still providing quality service to your company,” says Shawn Mason Spence, an entrepreneur mentor, radio host and author of The Work From Home Bible (to be released November, 2012). “It requires discipline, focus and commitment, but the flexibility to define that yourself. You can create a work culture at home that represents you, not just the culture of your organization.”
“I think it depends almost entirely on the individual,” says Jenny Foss, a recruiter, career coach and founder of the career blog JobJenny.com. “As someone who made the transition–first to working part-time in an office and part-time at home, and then to being at home full time, and now, back to a split schedule–I understand first-hand that working from home is much different than an office environment. Those who are going adjust well to it, and be happy with working from home, will be those who are self-disciplined with their time, don’t rely on face-to-face banter with co-workers throughout the day, and those who are independent when it comes to administrative issues that will invariably crop up throughout any given week.”
7. SigTrack – SigTrack works with independent contractors to record whether petition signers are voters or to process voter registration and other forms. Since this work revolves around the petition season, they only hire at certain times. Pay is per work unit based on accuracy, and they require that you maintain at least 98% accuracy to satisfy your contract and also peer review others’ work. They pay via PayPal. This position is only available to U.S. citizens and you’ll be required to do a short Skype call during the interview process to establish identity. Equipment requirements are pretty standard, but note that they require dual monitors.

Also, every contact is a useful, important touchpoint. We find that identifying personality types enables us to zero in with highly targetted personality-specific messages along the path to purchase. So that when the moment is right they “feel” right and choose to buy from our clients. People decide differently. Personbality marketing can guide their thinking.
CloudSource, the work-at-home division of Sutherland Global Services, employs customer service consultants from all 48 contiguous states to support industry leaders in the cable/Internet service, retail, software, and gaming console industries. Some people prefer running a timer app on their computer to set specific blocks of time for each task. You can use your phone’s alarm clock to serve the same purpose. Others however, feel intimidated with a timer and would rather go for a spreadsheet where they can lay out hourly, daily, weekly schedules. Whatever method you pick, the most important thing is you keep track of a routine and your time.

If you liked the idea of owning your day, just wait until you own your week. If you've wondered how many more runs you could get in on the ski slopes on a Wednesday (or whatever it is you like to do for fun), or how much easier and cheaper it would be to travel during times when fewer people are able, the answer is: a lot. In fact, the only drawback is that friends and family probably don't have the same flexibility. Once you get to the point where you own the week, however, you'll find yourself longing a lot less for the weekend.
In a traditional office, you have the eyes of your boss on you — or at least the perception of being checked up on. You probably still have a boss when you’re working from home, but the management of how you spend your work day is largely up to you. You’re the one who has to answer for your to-do list, even if your manager wasn’t around to see you tackle each item.
Of course, the biggest space invaders live inside your home. Your children, provided they're old enough to understand, need to learn to respect your work time. Parlapiano recalls putting a sign on her door with "Mommy is working now so don't come in" on one side and "Okay to come in" on the other. She also allowed her children to bring the mail to her office, and she made it a point to take a midday break to have lunch with them. Keep in mind, particularly if you have in-home child care, that it may be easier on your child and your caregiver if you keep your days relatively predictable. It's important for your spouse to recognize your boundaries as well. If you're serious about starting a business at home, your days can't be dedicated to laundry and running household errands. With your spouse's help, work out a plan for dividing household chores and spending quality time together.
What It Is: Transcription essentially involves you listening to audio files and typing out what you hear. Easy enough, right? Companies usually hire transcriptionists without much experience, so some job postings might only require you to have a computer and keyboard to get started. Transcription jobs can vary from transcribing a college lecture to a doctor's medical dictation, while most companies allow you to make your own schedule.
Cyndi10...This is filled with important information for us to consider. I am working from home now as I write for hubpages now (but it is not my source of income). It is my job though. Each day I work on revising and reviewing hubs or on creating new ones so following your ten tips is helpful. I checked off mentally your list and I have pretty many addressed however I am bookmarking this and will reread it. Thank you for sharing this with us.

These work from home companies offer employees flexible working hours, better pay and freedom from office walls. Even though the internet is flooded with many online jobs, there are some that offer better pay. Here is a list of work from home firms that are willing to pay $16 per hour or more for home-based jobs.

Co-workers might accuse you of slacking. When you work from home and can’t get to a call or email right away, your co-workers may not give you as much leeway as they might if you were in the office. People might wonder if you’re taking it easy rather than pulling your weight. “Remember,” says Fay, “the onus is on the work-from-home individual to be overcommunicating what they’re doing and what they’re accomplishing.”

Boy, do I love when people cut out the BS and tell it like it is. Thanks Jon! I went into blogging last summer fairly naively, thinking because I was tenacious, a great writer, and a professional marketer that I could run laps around everybody else. Well like most, I’ve been humbled, frustrated, confused, frustrated, perplexed. I’ve tore things apart and put them back together. I’ve cursed aWeber and used four-letter words about WP, not because they were doing anything wrong, but because I couldn’t figure out code and how to make things work as a one woman band. Oh the joys. I’m not giving up. I have my nose to the keyboard and will attend your webinar. Thanks for the frankness.
Hi Michelle, such a great post! My bread and butter is freelance writing, and I’ve used that to create a full-time income online for around seven years now. I also have an eBay reselling business, and I absolutely LOVE doing that… Working from home can be quite isolating at times, so I love scheduling thrift store trips etc into my working week. It keeps me sane, and reselling is so fun 🙂
Photographs. Because your customers won’t be able to touch or hold your items, you need to give them as much of a visual feel for the products as you can. You’ll do it with photographs – but not just any photos. They have to be pleasing to the eye and make the item look fantastic. You’ll have to learn the art of photography, and if you can’t get the hang of it, you’ll have to hire someone to do it for you. Yes, it’s that important.

A new FlexJobs survey Top 100 Companies to Watch for Telecommuting and Remote Jobs in 2016. says writer, engineer, marketing manager, adjunct faculty and software developer are among the most common work from home opportunities. Since 2005 there has been a 103% growth in the number of telecommuters in the USA. People who telecommuted in both 2014 and 2015 said that they telecommuted 22 percent more in 2015.
DeWitt turns salvaged parts from old TVs and VCRs into artsy necklaces, earrings and figures. Colleen Jordan uses 3D printing to create her necklaces called wearable planters. Don't be discouraged, Shapeways 3D printing company can get you started with their simple apps so you can easily customize your own designs with a click of a mouse, anything from a wedding band in rose gold, a vase in ceramic or your own bobble head printed in full color. Schedule time to interact with others. Ideally, you will schedule time for networking events, workshops and classes that pertain to your business. Include developing new relationships or continuing relationships you may have already established. It's too easy to become isolated when you are working from home. Relationships are still just as important as they were when you were going into the office, maybe more important. Join business networks. Attend their meetings. Many events are ideal for those who work at home or own their own business.
You've heard this one before, but it's crucial. Carve out a dedicated space that you only use for work. Preferably, you need natural light and a door, so that you can separate your work from your home life when the workday is done. (Moreover, creating a separate and exclusive space can be necessary if you want to take a tax deduction for a home office.)
Most people think that you need to have a lot money stocked away before getting started with investing in real estate, but that isn’t true. In fact, you can start with with as little as $500 by using a platform like Fundrise. Fundrise allows investors of all types (beginners and experts alike) to invest directly in a real estate portfolio that’s managed by a team of professionals.
The bottom line: Remote work is not an excuse to get up late, work in your pajamas and enjoy freedom from responsibility. It is, however, a viable career option that permits you to avoid cubicle life and long commutes, options when arranging your work schedule, and the comforts of your own home/office/favorite cafe. As long as the pay is enough for your needs, remote work can be a pleasant, productive and rewarding career.

(I think this is one of the EASIEST jobs stay at home moms can do with no experience!)
A reliable high-speed Internet connect is a requirement, of course, to access the databases from which you’ll work. Often working as part of a team, data entry professionals may be asked to log into a company’s database system to make entries or access data for other purposes. Depending on the employer and industry, a high school degree, and perhaps an additional certification, may be the minimum education requirements. And of course you’ll need to be fast and highly accurate at inputing data.
Dress as if you are expecting company. There are some schools of thought that say this is not necessary. However, I'm of the belief that you will not be as productive if you "appear" at work in your pajamas or your very casual yoga workout clothes. Wearing such comfortable clothes may sound great, but you could psychologically be too relaxed, too comfortable to give the attention to your work that it deserves. I need an edge or a certain amount of tension to function. Getting dressed helps to establish that edge. You don't need to dress as if you are going in to the corporate office, but you wouldn't entertain company in a robe or your smelly workout clothes, either, would you? Nothing dressy required (although some do dress "up"), just something nice.
