The appeal of working from home is undeniable, and there are a variety of positions available. Twenty years ago, most of these Work From Home jobs didn't exist. Envelope stuffing and small item assembly involving a lot of back and forth mailing were about the only jobs available. With the advent of the Internet, there are options to accommodate many skill sets. Instant communication with employers allows a Work From Home employee to perform bookkeeping services, medical transcription, simple data entry or customer service.

Another common one? It's called the Secret Shopper scam. You get a letter or see an ad or e-mail saying you can be a secret shopper, shopping different stores, acquiring different products for a company. Sounds simple right? They frequently hire both entry-level and senior-level finance and accounting professionals, including: Accounting Clerks, Accounts Payable, Billing Clerks, Bookkeepers, Payroll Clerks, and many other roles. Pay is generally $15-$20 per hour for entry-level positions and $25-$35+ for higher-level positions.

Working at home can make you feel cut off from your co-workers. You are on your own. It is important to stay connected through your computer and telephone. Always be willing to send instant messages through Skype or whichever software your company uses. Stay available and do not ignore your co-workers when they message or email you, this goes both ways.
“In a remote work environment, there is a need to really be an independent worker,” Reynolds said. “You probably still interact with your manager and co-workers, but that hour-to-hour basis, the day-to-day basis, that really is up to you to keep on track.” If you do your best work where you’re reporting your progress throughout the day and getting new tasks from your boss, working at home might not be a good fit.
•The website has no contact information. A legitimate business has a way for you to reach them. Look for an "About" page that offers information on the company or CEO, along with a phone number, address, or contact email. (Try calling the number to see if anyone answers.) A website with only a contact form and no other way to get in touch with an actual human is suspicious.
What It Is: Do people ask you your secret to perfect pie crust or how you made that wreath? "Everyone knows how to do something, or has a hobby they enjoy," says Kimberly Lawson, owner of OohLaLuxe.net, who has created fashion and beauty tutorial videos. "These can easily be turned into profits." Simply sign up for a free YouTube account. Then use a smartphone or digital camera to record yourself explaining and demonstrating how you work your magic. (If you're more tech-savvy or have a burgeoning teenage filmmaker in your house, you can use desktop software, such as Windows Movie Maker, to create a slicker video.) "Once you upload the video to YouTube, enroll in its partner program," Lawson says. YouTube will then place ads inside or near your video, and you will earn money from the ads themselves, video views and click-throughs. "The key is to put a unique spin on your video," says Lawson, especially if there are lots of others on the same subject.

Perhaps, until now, you’ve failed to notice the importance your working environment has on your productivity level. Not only that an organized, clean space will have a positive impact, but this will also signal your brain that it is time to work and focus on what you have to do – as opposed to being distracted by something else that draws your attention.
I do appreciate your hard knocks approach. Not convinced if there is any good in making everything as “easy!”. In regards to the comment above from Ryan about being positive: I think we all want it to be fun, cheery, easy, quick, etc. etc. But the reality is that the facts and knowledge, applied wisely, is much more useful than some cheery motivational speaker. Thanks for keeping it real, that is what is going to be what helps us achieve success in the end.
But even if you don’t burrow down into copywriting, freelance writing is definitely worth another look. If you’re able to type fast, you should be able put together a decent blog post in about an hour (once you get the hang of it, which typically doesn’t take very long). If you charge a client $50 for that blog post (which is a pretty typical beginner/advanced beginner rate), you’ve just made $50 for an hour’s worth of work. And the best part is, many businesses will want to hire a writer for recurring work, so it’s not like you have to find a new client every time you want an assignment.

I’m finding out very quickly that to make any money writing, you have to read, read, and then read some more, no matter how smart you feel you are on a subject, before writing your first sentence. I have always been a fan of multiple income streams and am thrilled by the ideas of proofreading, editing, blogging, freelancing and transcribing. Kanarek says if you’re not taken seriously, it’s important to let friends and family know that although you’re working from home, you’re still working. And if you’re feeling lonely or unmotivated, work from a coffee shop or a restaurant a few hours a week. “While you may not interact with anyone, being around others can motivate you to work,” Kanarek says.
Communicate professionally by being active and engaged in conference calls and looking presentable in video conferences, and write concise emails with meaningful subject lines. Nearly every remote worker also recommends finding a way to interact with other people by conversing outside of work with distant co-workers and befriending fellow remote workers (even of other companies) – it will help you feel more connected and less isolated.
When I first switched to working at home I had already started the blog. I knew that wasn’t going to make me any money but it was what I wanted to do. So to supplement my blog writing I also chose to do Mystery Shopping and Merchandising. I worked outside the home for most of my jobs but I could set my own hours and my earning potential was up to me. I committed to my jobs full force. Next, build a small website and make sure that you attract the search engine spiders by using the keywords people would likely search for when looking for a place to stay in your area. In addition, there are sites that specialize in promoting specific areas and their attractions, such as BedandBreakfast.com and Airbnb – your Bed and Breakfast should be listed there.

I can’t say that we’ve gotten rich off of it, but it helps pay the bills.
